Commissioned Portraiture of Cats or Birds

With my years of experience, I am able to give you expert advice on the best pose and composition for the portrait, plus, I know how confusing it can be to choose a medium, so  ….. if you are interested in something which has not been specified, OR,  if you don’t have a preference, and you are unsure, you can email me a photo of your pet and I would be very happy to give you my professional opinion on the most suitable medium and style of Portrait.

I only use the highest Quality Artists materials.  Oil and Acrylic Paintings are premium quality stretched canvas on wooden stretchers, and come to you ready to be framed….. The Graphite/Charcoal, Ink, Pastel and Coloured Pencil Portraits are all supplied on a backing board and covered with glassine paper for protection, after having had a light spray of Artists Quality Fixative, although it is recommended that you get your Artwork framed as soon as possible to prevent damage and to promote longevity.

When doing the portrait, I require photos of the pet (the favourite one that you would like used, but also others to see the colours and features in different lights etc. )  All photos are returned unharmed.  Please try to offer the best photographs possible, it is impossible to get a good likeness from a small or blurry photograph!  Preferably, the photograph should be taken in natural light, although not full sunlight -  no flash, as this bleaches out the colour of the hair and eyes.  A good sized, clear close up  - not a small animal in the middle of the frame with masses of space around it! -

I am also interested in knowing about your pets character, likes and dislikes, temperament etc. and favourite toys, places etc.—it all helps me to ‘know’ your pet.

All paintings sold will come with a ‘Certificate of Authenticity’ – a very desirable addition to the paintings either when given as a gift to a loved one, or when keeping as an item both to treasure and to hold as an investment for the future.

SIMBA

This was a commissioned Charcoal  portrait of a much loved cat, Simba,  by a lovely lady, for her husband for his Birthday.

These absolutely beautiful cats were a commission for Christmas, 2004. (Sized at 25 x 20cm each) They were drawn in charcoal and looked just wonderful!

Donna, from Townsville, QLD, wrote this after receiving them:

"Hi Anthea,

I don't know what to say...I love them, they're perfect!

Thankyou so much.  I couldn't believe the picture of Mindy, you captured her perfectly.

Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou

Donna"

BASIL

This coloured pencil painting of Basil was commissioned by a lovely lady who has been a regular client of mine for some time now.  Basil looked absolutely wonderful, painted in coloured pencil, and Teresa was delighted with him.
